Christopher Shennan was born in South Africa in 1943, converted to Christ in 1967, and graduated from Wesleyan Evangelical Seminary in 1973. At a camp meeting in 1973, he was given the responsibility of ministering to the children. Using handmade puppets, flannel graph and a straightforward Gospel message, he saw God pour out revival upon the children. This launched him into a ministry with children. He co-founded Children for Christ, and later founded Children's Radio Ministries. His gifts eventually extended to a passion for Bible study, preaching and teaching, as well as writing outlines and commentaries on the Epistles and other books of the Bible.

However, like a dripping tap, an occasional poem would drop into his consciousness, and find its way onto the written page. From time to time these drips would turn into gushes, till at last they were sufficient to fill several volumes. To date there are three volumes of poetry. The first is called Morning Light, the second is Soul Fire and the third is Pilgrim Pathways and Bible Themes. Another volume, September Songs, is a work in progress.

Christopher Shennan has also written books for children, for youth, and a novel for adults, to be published in the near future.
